"Dr.
Heidegger's Experiment:" Story Analysis
Author.
NathanielHawthome(1804-1864)was born in Salem, Massachusetts. He started writting short stories, and the began to write novels. The Scarlet Letter is Hawthome is one of America’s greatest writers.
SUMMARY:
This story is about three men and a woman have different personalities them, they did many things wrong in the past. One day the Dr. Heidegger wanted to give them a try making them young again his only rule was to ask them to change their lives and their bad behaviors and they accepted change. After drinking the water of youth, to be young again and forces them to behave similarly followed or worse than before this miraculous liquid fortunately only affected their bodies for a short time. Dr. Heidegger knew that his friends would never change their bad behaviors friends were superficial, self-centered and ambitious and all they wanted was to meet each of their needs. At the end of the story of the doctor's friends return to the way it was and all I want is to find the fountain of youth.
Story's plot:
Characters:
Mr. Medbourne: ambitious, greedy.
Mr. Gason: dishonest and thief.
Mr. Colonel Killigrew: gluttonous and alcoholic.
Widow Wycherly: superficial, egocentric and conceited.
Dr. Heidegger: cautious, a little naive and cautious.
My opinion:
Interesting:
This story shows the reality of many people who even have opportunities in life or want to help someone they never change.
Wanting to change and become better is a personal choice that requires maturity. In my opinion these people never wanted to have a different life.
I liked the history and enjoyment for my teaching is that no one can change anyone.
Ironic: The story is ironic because when I started reading it I thought these people would value a second chance to change their lives in failure but it turned out no, they were too self-centered and not interested in anything or anyone.
Teaching history: For me, this story shows the reality of many people who have throughout their lives and take advantage of opportunities that never live as parasites throughout their lives.

ANALYZE THE
STORY´S PLOT :
- Protagonist:
Anastacio.
Description:
He
is ambitious, greedy,insensitive and superficial.
- Second characters:
Emilio and
Berta.
Description:
They
are Poor, humble,kindly,loving and patient.
MY OPINION:
Anastacio
has hard personality, he is fighting for his dream, and he has a goal. He was a
really obsessive with it and he lost his family.
Berta
and Emilio in my personal opinion are good people they tried to have a close
family but they could not.
This
story gives a reflection because people can dream, can fight to get his or her
goal but all in our live need to have a limit, a balance.
The
family is the most important that God gave us.
